Blog is me....

What is blogging? Where did it come from? How does "blog" even become a word? Does this mean that I can coin my own words too?

Trapped in the Closet

R. Kelly has come out with the GREATEST piece of creative genius! Beethoven? Nothing compared to R. Kelly! Chopin? Mozart? Mere fools compared to the type of work created by Mr. R. Kelly.

All I can say is, "wow, oh wow....." In case you were not aware, R. Kelly has come out with a new song/video called "Trapped in the Closet". I am going to give a "Cliffs Notes" version of this hit single with its intricately woven story lines and comprehensive character development.

This song unfolds like a story with various chapters involving several different characters who are all connected to one another in some way. Mr. Kelly is obviously trying to portray the innerconnectivity of our existence. The song starts with a character named Sylvester who cheats on his wife, Gwendolyn, with another married woman whose own husband was apparently involved in an amorous affair with the church deacon. Guns are drawn and bickering ensues. Sylvester goes home to his wife who was cheating on him with a cop named James, who happened to give Sylvester a speeding ticket as he was racing home to be with his wife. Guns are drawn again and this time, someone gets shot. Mr. Kelly is portaying the frailty of human existence at this point while using an excellent example of foreshadowing with the interaction between Sylvester and the cop in chapter 4.

The rest of the chapters, as you can imagine, continue with more infidelity and guns being pointed at people. There's people hiding in closets and cabinets. An asthmatic midget who is involved with a chick named Bridget (imagine that one!) and craps in his pants is also involved around chapter 10. The length to which Mr. Kelly delves into each character's development is just astonishing!

I think everyone should give their loved ones this single as the perfect Christmas present! What else could someone want??????

Post Thanksgiving Ruminations....

Well, Thanksgiving is behind us now and what remains of 2005 will pass by in a flurry of shopping, Christmas trees, parties, family, etc, etc...

As usual, Thanksgiving was spent with the family, overstuffing ourselves with turkey, stuffing, gravy, and the rest of the usual suspects. I think most people are so stressed out between traveling and dealing with family, that most people don't take the time to stop and think about how fortunate we are, no matter how "difficult" our situation may seem at times.

RM and I were fortunate to take a girls' trip to Big Sur after the BIG T-day. We realized how thankful we should be on a daily basis and it's sad that so many people live their lives without being really grateful for everything. We were thankful for being able to see the beauty of the CA coastline. Thankful that we could walk and hike. Thankful that we had a car and money for food and gas. Thankful for our friendship and our respective families.

Do you really take the time to think about how fortunate you are? Do you take time to be grateful for the opportunities that you've been given? Do you realize that a one month car payment can feed an entire family in Africa for a whole year or more??? It truly puts things into perspective.

Bruingirl is BACK!!!!!

After a long, grueling exam that took place over the course of two days, Bruingirl can resume a life of normalcy again! :)

Of course, some people may ask, when was Bruingirl EVER normal??? But really, isn't "normal" a totally subjective term anyway?

After studying for so many hours, it is amazing how your brain ceases all other functional abilities. I can honestly say that I now understand the meaning of the "absent-minded professor" syndrome. Looking at flashcards while driving probably wasn't the smartest thing to do, but then again, is talking on the phone while driving? Eating and driving? Putting on make-up and driving? Blackberrying and driving?

The more you think about all the things that people do in their cars while driving makes you want to stay off the roads as much as possible!

This weekend, Bruingirl and RM are off to a "Thelma and Louise" type of adventure. Hey, I would have no complaints running into a Brad Pitt look-alike!
